Free 30-Day Trial:

WeWebU OpenWorkdesk 3.2 supports latest ECM repositories

Herzogenaurach, 05/04/2012 – WeWebU Software AG, the maker of OpenWorkdesk, has released the latest version of its flagship product. The enhancements include the support of the latest versions of important Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platforms like IBM FileNet P8 5.1 and Alfresco 4.0 as well as usability improvements like document manipulation functions in Advanced Document Viewing. In addition to the open source OpenWorkdesk Community Edition, WeWebU now also provides free 30-day trial versions of the Enterprise and Pro Editions of both OpenWorkdesk and Zero-Install Desktop Integration.

“Our customers don’t need to buy a pig in a poke. For free, they can use our Community Edition with no time limit and test the full range of functions of our Enterprise and Pro Editions including Zero-Install Desktop Integration for 30 days. Then they can decide which OpenWorkdesk Edition fits their needs best”, explains Dr. Rainer Pausch, Head of Products & Marketing at WeWebU Software AG.

WeWebU OpenWorkdesk 3.2 is the first ECM application suite supporting IBM FileNet P8 5.1 using the most recent API. Thus, it provides all related advantages like the support of the ECM repository’s whole range of functions, optimized performance and accelerated access to content and metadata. Via CMIS, OpenWorkdesk 3.2 connects to Alfresco 4.0 with full support of Alfresco Aspects – an essential part of the Alfresco document model.

Furthermore, OpenWorkdesk 3.2 comes with a bunch of usability enhancements. Office documents that are added to an eFile can now be previewed during the initial indexing, for example. Filters facilitate finding the wanted content more quickly in large hit lists. Date and time data are displayed in the user’s local time zone – a big help for users in multinational organizations that provide one deployment across different time zones. Power users enjoy the enhanced keyboard navigation that now is available also for navigation in the folder tree. The new document manipulation functions of OpenWorkdesk Advanced Document Viewing put line of business users into the position to directly correct scanning errors, thus mostly eliminating the need to rescan documents. E.g., they can rotate and resort pages or split documents directly in the viewer and save the changes. The support of the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox is a matter of course.

Dr. Rainer Pausch invites to test OpenWorkdesk: “Especially if you use an ECM repository from IBM, I encourage you to try OpenWorkdesk Enterprise Edition now and see how you can boost the productivity of your users! If you use Alfresco ECM you should give the Pro Edition a try. The 30-day trial versions are already available on our website. We are sure you will appreciate them!”
